The temperature has dropped and the fishing has become a little easier. There are fewer natural hatches but during the Autumn months trout gorge on fry to prepare for the months ahead when their metabolism slows down. With an abundance of pin fry and sticklebacks in our water it’s time to look out those imitation lures, daiwl bachs and cormorants will do the trick too. The weather may be a bit miserable in the next few months but the fishing certainly won’t be!

FISH OF THE WEEK- This week’s top spot goes to GORDON NORVIL who was not deterred by the dreich Autumn weather and was rewarded with a 10lb 4oz beautiful rainbow. Well done Gordon!

FLIES OF THE WEEK- This week’s top flies were “wee magic” Kate McLaren, ace of spades, buzzers and spiders. Other successful flies were cutthroat cat, gold head nymph, hot head damsel, gold head daddy, invicta, cruncher, black lure, orange dancer, pink blob, black zonker, daiwl bach, viva, pin fry imitation, hares ear, yellow dancer, g&h sedge, Ally McCoist & a woolly bugger.

This week we welcomed the long-awaited return of the “legendary” Burnhouse steak pie and the anglers could not have been happier! To avoid food waste could we ask that anglers who wish to purchase a pie inform us at the beginning of their session, that way we are only heating what we require.

With the rise in COVID cases and the tightening of restrictions could we please ask that;

*All anglers sanitise their hands at the sanitising station before entering the cabin.

*All anglers wear face masks when in the cabin.

*No more than 2 anglers in the cabin at the one time.

*Anglers bring own nets and rods, rod hire will be unavailable until further notice.

*All anglers abide by the social distancing guidelines.

*Anglers pay by card or bring the correct money where possible to avoid change being handed out.

We will be sanitising all surfaces and toilets hourly. Gloves will be worn whilst handling food, hot drinks & handling money. We won’t be handing out tickets unless anglers require the receipts.

We would hate for anything to be traced back to our beloved sport so let’s work together as a team and do our bit to prevent the spread of this destructive disease!

Burnhouse Lochan is closed on a Monday and Tuesday with the exception of bank and public holidays. Could we ask that all anglers book in advance, the best number to get us on is 07949220511.

Thank you to all of our anglers this week, we look forward to seeing you again!

Tight lines for the week ahead.
