Burnhouse Lochan Fishery: Weekly Report: 14/05/21 – 21/05/21

WEEK OVERVIEW

The warmer weather was very welcome after weeks of unseasonal temperatures! The hatches have been spectacular, with so much insect life the anglers have been spoilt for choice! With hawthorns, black gnat, buzzers, daddies, midge, and sedges just to name a few of the magnificent trout snacks on the water.

Even though lures and the use of the bung have still been effective, anglers fishing dries, buzzers and naturals have had the better returns, even when the weather made its sudden return to the cooler temperatures.

FISH OF THE WEEK – This week’s top spot goes to ALEX ROOK  with a beautiful 13.4lb rainbow that had his reel screaming into the backing twice! Well done, Alex.

FLIES OF THE WEEK – This week’s top 3 flies were BUZZERS, DAMSELS and EGGS.

Other successful flies were –  okay dokies, shipmans, cormorants, CDCs, smokers, millennium bugs, fabs, klinkhammers, yellow owls, viva, black rabbit, yellow dancers, daiwl bachs, hawthorns, foam daddy, hoppers, cutthroat cat, black pennell, pink bunny leech, black apps, Adams, zonkers, Gerrards poodle, pheasant tailed nymphs, green & white lure, orange dancer, sedges, and spiders.
