Burnhouse Lochan Fishery – Weekly Report: 07/05/21 – 14/05/21

WEEK OVERVIEW

The deer are adding to the character and beauty of the Lochan. Their curiosity bringing them closer to the anglers, much to their amusement! With one inquisitive young female in particular taking a keen interest in watching the anglers fish and has even performed a few bag checks! It is not just the deer taking an interest in fishing bags, one baby rabbit took shelter from the cold wind in a bag that had been sitting next to the gorse bush! Nature at its best.

The wind has still been predominantly blowing from the east which means the cooler temperatures still remain. Even with less hatches due to the cooler weather the top of water sport has still been impressive, with dries and buzzers leading the way to success.

FISH OF THE WEEK – This week’s top spot goes to RONNIE TURNBULL with a beautiful 12lb rainbow! Well done, Ronnie.

FLIES OF THE WEEK – This week’s top 3 flies were BUZZERS, HOPPERS and EGGS.

Other successful flies were –  yellow dancers, sedgehogs, black pennell, shammies, damsels, March brown, daddies, shipmans, yellow owl, suspended hares ear, fabs, shimmy worms, olive apps, bibio, black spider, Griffiths gnat, double humpy, black rabbit, cormorants, incredible cat, daiwl bachs, wotsits, snatchers, suspended buzzers, sparklers,  millennium bugs, green & black fritz, smokers, CDCs, muddlers, and a floating fry.
