Burnhouse Fishery - Quality Fly Fishing all year round
Fishery Report 25th September 2016
Our weather prediction could not have been more wrong for this week but never mind! The wind that blew in from the east switched to a gentle westerly breeze and despite the fish being confused by the weather they are still coming up on the surface with most of them sitting about 12” under the surface and some good results seen by our visitors.
This week’s success stories:
Eddie Hunt (Cumbernauld) had 2 fish for 5lb 10oz. Dougall Bryce (Shotts) weighed in 2 cracking rainbows for 12lb 10oz fishing a slow retrieve and a size 10 Damsel tied up using his own pattern. Alan Meek fishing on a sporting ticket landed and safely returned 3 lovely rainbows fishing a floating line and CDC fly with nearly static retrieve. Regular angler Ian Don (Bonnybridge) as usual on a sporting ticket landed and released 3 fish fishing a floating line and very slow retrieve with size 14 suspended buzzer. Paddy Clark (Plean) out for a blether and decided to put out for a cast and managed to hook into a cracking rainbow of 10lbs according to Paddy! Jamie Wilson (Cumbernauld) weighed in 2 rainbows for 6lb 5oz caught on floating line and Red Bloodworm. John Fleming (Shieldhill) fishing on c/r ticket landed and returned 3 fish fishing a floating line and size 12 Sedgehog with almost static retrieve. Eddie Cannon (Camelon) weighed in 2 rainbow trout for 6lb 14oz fishing floating line and Gold Head Bloodworm with slow figure of 8 retrieve. Mark Love (Airdrie) weighed in 1 rainbow for 2lb 8oz fishing an intermediate line and stripping quite fast.
The fish seem to be switching onto fry feeding to prepare themselves for the winter months ahead – come and try your hand at our friendly fishery in the peaceful setting of Burnhouse. We will be closed this Saturday the 1st of October for a club booking.
