Fishing report for week ending 3rd March 2014

At last some fine mornings and a little more heat in the sun! Anglers have had good results with the water up to 6 degrees and the fish fighting really hard. Archie Dobbie( Glasgow) had 9 fish on c/r using a Pink Thorax, David Ford (Haggs) had 4 on c/r on Orange Egg fly, Harry Tonner (Bailieston) had 3 fish for 7lb 8oz, Ian McNaught had 2 for 6lb on Cats Whisker and White Blob, Angus Haughie (Falkirk) had 4 on c/r on Orange Fritz, Stefan Carboni (Stirling) had 1 for 2lb 6oz on Green Brown Buzzer, Mathew Gardiner (Carronshore) had 5 on c/r using a Cats Bug, Jim Ivatt (Alloa) had 4 on Daiwl Bachs. With this year’s Troutmasters fish off was on the 1st March - Congatulations go to Alan Smith(Cumberauld ) who fished really well and won by just 1 point, 7 fish on c/r but picked up 2 points on nearly every new peg, Davie MaGuinness (Armagh) made a late rally again with 7 fish but 4 caught on the last peg missed out by 1 point, Alex Britton (Bellshill) was out in front up until lunch but had a struggle in the late afternoon, for all those who took part in the event many thanks and remember its fishing on the day it could have been you.
